How the calculation works
Cycle cost = cycle kWh × electricity tariff + cycle water volume × water tariff in matching units. Annual cost = cycle cost × weekly cycles × 52; monthly average = annual ÷ 12.
Example
A cycle using 1 kWh and 10 liters costs $0.20 for electricity at $0.20/kWh, plus $0.03 for water at $3/m³. The combined utility cost is $0.23 per cycle.
Factors affecting the result
- Eco, intensive and heated-dry programs can have different energy use.
- Water tariffs may include a separate volumetric sewer charge.
- Detergent, fixed utility fees and maintenance are not included.

Can I use an annual energy-label number?
Only convert it to per-cycle use if you know the label cycle count and what energy it includes. A program-specific figure is easier to interpret.
Does this include detergent?
